EARLY LIFE
Kaif was born in Hong Kong,to an English mother, Susanna Turquotte,and an Indian father. Her parents divorced when she was very young.
Katrina Kaif is one of eight siblings, all girls, from a mother who is a Caucasian of British Nationality, and a father who was formerly from Kashmir, India, but who has since acquired British citizenship. Her mother is now re-settled in Chennai (formerly known as Madras), the Capital of the state of Tamil Nadu in India.
She spent subsequent years in Hawaii, and then in London, Britain, She started modeling accidentally when she was in Hawaii at the tender age of 14, when she was approached for a jewelry campaign. Thereafter she continued modeling in London.
Continuing to model was the reason she got her break in a Bollywood movie ‘Boom’ offered by none other than film-maker Kaizad Gustad.
When she came to India, she changed her surname to Kaif, because it was Indian in origin and easier to pronounce.
She also claims that they gave her the Kashmiri father and also the surname kaif after cricketer, Mohammad Kaif as he was on top at that time. She adds that they also had thought her naming Katrina Kazi.

Katrina kaif got her first break from the movie Boom (2003) and she was discovered by the London based filmmaker Kaizad Gustad, who gave her a part in his film Boom (2003). After that She moved to Mumbai and got a number of modeling assignments. filmmakers were initially hesitant to sign her because she could not speak Hindi. Katrina Kaif achieved a great success in 2005 with the film Sarkar, where she played the role of Abhishek Bachchan’s girlfriend, and she was paired opposite Salman Khan in the movie Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005).
Katrina Kaif gave a major hit movie, Namastey London In 2007, where she played the role of a British Indian girl with Akshay Kumar for the second time after the box office letdown Humko Deewana Kar Gaye (2006). Her career has got a high peak with the hit films like Apne, Partner, and Welcome.
Katrina Kaif played the character of villain for the first time in Abbas-Mustan’s hit action thriller Race(2008), in this movie She played the role of Saif Ali Khan’s secretary who is secretly in love with his hostile stepbrother (played by Akshay Khanna). Her second release of the year was “Singh Is Kinng” from Anees Bazmee’s production, and her opposite was Akshay Kumar. The film has done very well at the box office. Katrina Kaif’s final release of the year was Subhash Ghai’s Yuvvraaj, and it was a commercial failure.
Katrina Kaif first movie of 2009 was New York, with John Abraham, was a critical and commercial success. In this movie Kaif’s role was highly regarded. In the multi-starrer action film Blue,She played the role of a biker girl, popularly known as India’s first underwater thriller, which did’nt performe well at the box office. At the end of year 2009 she made appearance in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, with Ranbir Kapoor, and with Akshay Kumar in De Dana Dan. Both films were successes at the box-office.
In 2010, Kaif first film was Raajneeti, where she was opposite Ranbir Kapoor. The film was a great success, receiving a blockbuster status. She was also paired in Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan with Akshay Kumar. Although the film was not successful, but the item song Sheila Ki Jawani was a hit which was picturised on Katrina Kaif.
